1950 -  Born to Save Mankind—New Insights on Events Surrounding the Birth of Christ,
by Duane S. Crowther

The sweet story of the birth of the Christ has been treasured and retold for more than 2,000 years. Yet many new insights have come to light in recent decades, as the sciences of archaeology and historical research have expanded and matured. In fact, it has only been within the past half-century that scientific study of Book of Mormon history, geography and archaeology has led to the location of many key sites in Guatemala and southern Mexico.
Born to Save Mankind is a retelling of the beloved account of the birth of Christ, with the inclusion of many of these recently discovered insights. It begins prior to the creation of this earth, laying the groundwork for the divine mission the Savior was to perform for the salvation of mankind.
Many prophets foretold events in the life of Jesus; this study focuses on the prophecies found in Isaiah 7:14 and 9:6-7, explaining them in the light of their historical settings, both in the Middle East and in Middle America.
The Christmas story is then retold from the gospels of Matthew and Luke, again with the addition of insights from both history and scripture. It continues through the family life, youth, and preparation of the Savior.
There is no doubt that even the most erudite reader will find new insights to ponder and assimilate on almost every page as he reads Born to Save Mankind—New Insights on Events Surrounding the Birth of Christ!   $4.98

The numerous proofs and insights cover biblical scriptures that support LDS doctrine and temple work. Chapter 1, Jesus Christ, starts out by saying that LDS people are Christian, and then speaks about the Godhead, and Christ's life and role in our salvation. The Bible is chapter 2. It discusses doctrines and explains how the Bible is "a blueprint for finding the true Church of Jesus Christ.  The Dead Sea Scrolls and Nag Hammadi Codices, chapter 3, tells of ancient Biblical records that have been discovered by archaeologists, and support the LDS Church. Chapter 4 is titled Apostacy and Restoration, and gives a brief account of the religious history of the world from the time of Christ until the keys were restored to Joseph Smith. He is the subject of the next chapter, which follows his life as the founder of the LDS Church. In the sixth chapter, the author puts the Book of Mormon on trial, so to speak, calling "witnesses" and proving its truthfulness. Temples, chapter 7, explains the sacred purpose of these buildings, and a limited description of the ordinances performed therein. The next chapter, Blessings, lists several blessings that one can receive if they are worthy and follow the teachings of the gospel. 1249 -  The Eye of Faith—Discovering the
Most Powerful Driving Force of Your Life
,
by Ron L. McIntyre.

The Eye of Faith is one of the most significant "how-to" books in Mormondom! Why? Because it shows how to apply the beliefs and the hopes which motivate us into action!
The prophet Moroni, like other Book of Mormon seers, wrote of valiant saints of his day, saying that "there were many whose faith was so exceedingly strong . . . truly saw with their eyes the things which they had beheld with an eye of faith" (Ether 12:19). "The eye of faith" is not merely a figure of speech, but a very tangible process that has brought eternal growth to many, many saints, both ancient and modern!
In this insightful book, Dr. McIntyre combines his scientific skills with his abilities as a professional communicator, teaching you how to behold with the eye of faith. Applying the procedures spoken of in the Book of Mormon, he tells you how to use visual tools to help your mind receive positive input from your spiritual intelligence. He teaches you how to effectively visualize goals, and how to focus on those visual images in your prayers and other personal activities to help them come to pass. He also shows you how to overcome and eliminate negative images that impede progress.
This is a carefully prepared, scripturally based book that provides real, workable guidance for turning belief into faith into results into spiritual growth$14.98

1958 -  King Daryl of Dread—
A Christmas Tale

by Jack Weyland, illustrated by Jill Simmons

This wonderfully fun, rhyming classic tells the tale of King Daryl, a mean old king who always hassled his subjects. Their Christmas merriment made him mad. He couldn't understand why they gave so many presents, and he wasn't the recipient.
He struggled with selfishness until his subjects showed him how the spirit of Christmas could touch his heart. They helped King Daryl think of making others happy rather than always being greedy.
This delightful tale is fun reading for both kids and grownups.
Read it—you'll love it!   $15.98

1245 -  The Longing

by Shari Gibson

Dan Simmons, an NBA star with the Titans, had it all— fame, money and personality—except something that was missing way down deep inside. He couldn’t identify it at first, but in a life of greatness and national exposure, he needed little things to happen in his life to fulfill the longing that tugged at him. Two of those “little” things began when he met Megan, and when he began to learn of the LDS Church, of which she was a member. But neither seemed attainable, given the life he was leading. In this moving story about “a mighty change of heart,” where both humility and greatness share a troubled mind, the fulfillment of Dan’s longing reaches a touching finish. This is excellent LDS fiction!  $17.98

1248 -  Preparing the Elders of Israel to
Save the Constitution

by Steve M. Thomas

Protection of life, free exercise of conscience, and the right and control of property. These are God-given, unalienable principles of freedom, as defined in the Constitution of the United States of America. This book is brief and succinct, but it effectively highlights the concept that our government was created by the people to preserve our freedoms. Citizens can only delegate to the government those rights they are justified in exercising individually, and the government cannot legitimately engage in activities that go against this principle without acting against the Constitution. This nation is not a pure democracy, where the majority vote rules, but rather a republic. The founding fathers insured this by instituting representation.
The author cautions us of excesses that have crept into the government's structures and procedures. He warns of current situations where various government departments have become lawmakers in their own right, without Constitutional authority to do so. The precarious status of the nation's monetary system is also highlighted.
Preparing the Elders of Israel to Save the Constitution is at once bold and profound, yet simple in its presentation of key elements of the U.S. Constitution, and it provides the reader with ample food for thought. This book deserves a careful reading by every thoughtful Latter-day Saint!
